ADVICE
“How can I stop being sensitive?”
Stop thinking that everything is about you.
Often, we get sensitive because we feel attacked by what others say or do. But the truth is that not everything is about you.
For example, when someone makes a criticism that is actually a general statement, we can tend to think they’re referring to us. It may be because we see ourselves in what they say. However, that’s our interpretation and not necessarily the speaker’s intention.
Don’t take things too personally. Instead, try to listen objectively.
If it affects you, reflect on why that is so. It can be an opportunity to grow in self-awareness and become a better person.
Don’t take it against the person speaking because, more often than not, they’re not pointing their finger at you.
