OPEN RELATIONSHIPS

“My husband wants us to have an open relationship. Is that a good idea?”

Not at all. It goes against the very essence of marriage. As husband and wife, you show your love by faithfully committing yourselves to each other.

If you’re going to entertain romantic or sexual relationships with other people, that’s not a marriage any longer.

What’s more, it will wreak havoc on your life. Such a setup will only lead to jealousy, dishonesty, and heartbreak. This is because your emotions will always be part of the picture.

You can’t avoid getting invested in a relationship or comparing yourself with your spouse’s other partners. And when you do, things will become chaotic and painful.

Above all, you won’t get to love truly and fully because you refuse to stick to one. You may be sexually satisfied, but in the end, you won’t be as deeply happy as you could be when you’re in a faithful marriage.
